the door
To improve on this short film i would need to include a variety of different shot types as this film is shot from eye level the whole way throughout. By shooting from eye level to create a documentary feel it allowed me to include good use of hand held camera. The non - diegetic sound which plays throughout the video worked well as it created tension throughout the whole clip and put viewers on edge.

Development and editing of technology.
Movolia - allows a film editor to view a film whilst editing, it was invented by Iwan Serruier in 1994.
Flat bed edit suites - type of machine used to edit film together for a motion picture. Picture and sound roll onto separate disks, they move forward and backward separately or are locked together to create synchronisation between picture and sound.
linear editing - you can select, arrange and modify images into a pre - determined ordered sequence. Most commonly start to finish its used working with video tape.
Non - liner editing - random access editing, instant access to whatever clip you want, whenever you want it. you're able to work on any segment of the project at any time instead of a set order.
online editing - final cut of project. editing high quality footage together.
offline editing- rough or draft cut of the project by editing low quality footage together so the main editor can get ideas for the final cut.
The digital era
Edit Droid - computerised analog non - liner editing system.
Avid 1 - non linear editing system based around an apple Macintosh II computer, an editor was freed to make as many cuts as they want.
CMX 600 - first non linear editing system.

Textual Analysis of East Rider 1996.
In the beginning of the cemetery acid scene from the text Easy Rider, 1996 , a static camera and natural lighting is used. Diegetic sound of church bells surrounding the protagonists in the frame at the time creates a sense of realism within the scene. The protagonists are seen doing drugs within the scene which helps later on for the chaotic trip the clip takes. The camera for this scene is consistently static and eye level which makes the viewer feel as though they are in the scene watching the protagonists and the surroundings. Cross editing is then used as the camera rapidly switches between being static on the protagonists to panning upwards and downwards a tall building. Non diegetic sound of a girl speaking religiously is played whilst the camera is switching from different shots this creates a chaotic atmosphere within the scene. The religious element the clip has links back to the 1960 era which the film is set in as in the 1960s it was a time of explosive religious change, it was a time of innovation from the new theology and new morality of Bishop Robinson. After the chaotic scene a low angle shot is shown of the female protagonist who is talking about religion, this places her in a position of power. Fast editing is then used as the scenes cut between a male and a female protagonist. both protagonists are show in the centre of the screen which makes the audience know they are the main priority in the film. whilst fast editing is used, hand held camera is also included as the camera is placed at a high angle and spins around quickly.
